Samskara literally means
“impression”. Major events and special people leave impressions that can change or alter our life permanently.
Similarly, Samskaras leave subtle impressions that also impact our life positively. Samskaras are Vedic rituals (that include
fire sacrifices) specially recommended in the Vedas for the benefit of humanity. Different milestones of life are marked by
ceremonies that enhance the journey of the soul in this planet. Since these occasions are very special such as birth, the
first grain ceremony, the starting of education and marriage etc., these milestones are also marked by special sacrifices
to invoke the blessings of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and the assembled community members.
At
ISKCON of CNJ we have trained Brahmana priests who can conduct these ritual fire sacrifices or Yagnas for the pleasure of
the Lord and to invoke His blessings. Some of the Samskaras that are performed here are listed below.
